We support you in your tests and ensure reproducible results

EMCC supports you with tests around DIN EN ISO 20567! DIN EN ISO 20567 describes a test method to simulate rockfall damage. This is done by single and / or multi-impact testing. This test, also known as the Gravel Bombardment Test, is mainly used in the automotive sector or in the rail sector, where vehicles are exposed to grit or gravel.

Technical specifications

  • Chamber size: 600 x 580 x 500 mm³ (l x b x h)
  • Pressure: 1 – 4 bar (100 – 400 kPa)
  • Gravel from 3 mm to 16 mm
  • Tests also possible on entire components
  • Tests acc. to ISO 20567
  • Tests acc. to ISO 16750-3
  • Tests acc. to  John-Deere standard JDQ 53.3
  • Tests acc. to Mercedes standard DBL_7399 Section 5.3.2

Gravel Bombardment Test - Procedure

The stone chip resistance of the coating is tested by many small sharp-edged impactors. The bombardment material is defined chilled granulate, which is shot at a certain angle onto the coating with compressed air. The extent of the damage depends on the working pressure, the mass of the shelling material, the shelling time and the construction of the tester.
