Requirements for Drones and UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) - military and civilian

As an ISO 17025 accredited test laboratory, we support you in testing your drone – military or civilian.

  • Testing drones: EMC, Environmental Simulation, Electrical Safety, Effects of Lightning Strikes
  • Testing drones: EMC, Environmental Simulation, Electrical Safety, Effects of Lightning Strikes
  • Testing drones: EMC, Environmental Simulation, Electrical Safety, Effects of Lightning Strikes

Functional Requirements
The functionality of drones is assessed by specific technical standards. Key focus areas include:

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Drones must perform safely in environments with electromagnetic interference. Relevant standard: EN 61000-4-XX.

Environmental Simulation: Drones are tested for resilience to extreme weather conditions (temperature, humidity, vibrations). Standards: EN 60068-2-XX, MIL-STD-810

Electrical Safety: Systems must be protected against short circuits, overloads and other electrical hazards. Relevant standard: IEC 62368-1

Lightning Strikes: Protection measures and testing procedures for direct lightning strikes, based on aviation standards like RTCA DO-160.

Standards

We test EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) and ENV (environmental simulation) of UAVs as well as of the associated remote pilot control stations according to relevant military, civil avionic and ground industry standards, such as:

  • MIL-STD-464/461

  • MIL-STD 810

  • NATO ACTP-250/500

  • ED-14/ED-160

  • ED-105/ARP5416

  • ED-107/ARP5583

  • IEC EN 61000-X-XX

  • EN 60068-2-XX

  • CISPR

  • Etc.
